Proposed Solution
We are proposing a fire lane be created down the center of the 400 Block of State Street in Santa Barbara. Barriers would be set at either end. Allowing pedestrians to safely travel around the block without traffic driving down the road. And giving emergency vehicles access when required.
Southbound Entrance
The intersection of State Street and Haley. Easy access for first responders and emergency vehicles. 20’ wide painted fire lane with barricades. Haley street turning lane is currently filled partially by a parklet. The parklet could be extended or barriers would be added to block the turning lane.
Northbound Entrance
The intersection of State Street and E Gutierrez. Easy access for first responders and emergency vehicles. 20’ wide painted fire lane with barricades.
